Girls Basketball Win Streak on the Line Monday Night vs. Roosevelt

The 8th grade girls basketball undefeated season is on the line Monday night as they take on Roosevelt at Roosevelt Middle School. 7th grade girls play at 5:30. 8th grade girls immediately follows. Good luck to both teams. Get out and support the girls on this endeavor. Here we go Governors!

I was at The Ohio State University the last two days learning about balanced literacy. It is important for everyone to know that Mr. Fausnaught over in Loyalsock is a huge Ohio State fan. He text me while I was out there requesting a new hoodie to sport. He also wanted me to sneak in the the Horseshoe to try and get him some OSU turf for his Big Ten turf collection. Keep routing for the Buckeyes Mr. Faus, we all know how big a fan you are!

Winter Concerts at AGC


Congratulations to all of our orchestra, band, and choral students for putting on three great Winter Concerts. Your performance put everyone into the holiday spirit. Keep up the great work. Keystone Achievement Award


Curtin earned a Keystone Achievement Award for making Adequate Yearly Progress two consecutive years on the PSSA in the areas of math and reading. Congratulations to the students and staff at Curtin. Keep the streak alive! This is our first Keystone Award at Curtin.

PSU Nittany Lions!



My son went on his third grade field trip last Friday to PSU. He said that it was a great trip. They went to the Nittany Lion shrine, saw a student production, All-Sports Museum, Beaver Stadium, and The Creamery. Be sure to route for the Lions on News Years Day vs. USC in the Rose Bowl.

A Christmas Story


On December 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, the Community Theater League is hosting A Christmas Story. You know the story, "you'll shoot your eye out!" Our very own Mrs. Hickey is directing with Mrs. Welty serving as stage manager. My oldest son, Connor, is playing Ralphie's best friend Schwartz. If you want a good laugh to get you in the mood for the holiday season this may be for you to see.

Roni Soccer Team Places 3rd


We finally wrapped up our season. The u10 team that I coach compiled a 5-2-1 record, placing them 3rd in the league this past season. We just started playing at the Dome on Saturdays. Have you been in the Dome yet? Awesome facility!

Girls Basketball Starts with Success!



The Lady Governors have started off the season with much success. The 8th grade team are undefeated to this date. I watched a great game this past Saturday as the girls battled back from a 10 point deficit to win the game. I was proud of our team as they never gave up and played some tenacious defensive to get back in the game. I am looking forward to our girls playing Loyalsock. Look out Mr. Fausnaught, here come the Governors!

Happenings at AGC!





The Lady Governors are off to a great start to their basketball season. The 8th grade girls are 2-0 and the 7th grade girls are 1-1 after two games. Our annual Chicken and Biscuit Dinner was a huge success this year. We sold nearly 600 dinners. We had our student music groups playing and staff working behind the scenes to make this event a huge success. We would like to especially think Mrs. Bresticker and Mrs. Feinstein for coordinating this event!

WALKATHON at AGC



Curtin students participated in our first annual WALKATHON at AGC. Grade level students walked outside during their UA classes in order to earn money for our PTO. We will let you know our school wide total after November 10th. You can collect your money until November 10th in order to be eligible for prizes! Great job students!

Pep Rally!


The Millionaire Cheerleaders paid AGC a visit during our Pep Rally as we got psyched to play Roosevelt in football. Our fall athletes were recognized at the event.

Step Afrika!




The dance company Step Afrika performed for our students yesterday. They sent such a powerful message with regard to RESPECT, DISCIPLINE, UNITY! They were able to get the whole school steppin'. Remember that they are at the Community Arts Center on Wednesday evening @7PM. Cost is $2 at the door. Enjoy the show 2X's!

Mummified! Modern Day



Mr. Bartholomew and Mrs. Vogt had Mr. Bill Keiser from Sanders Mortuary come in to speak to his class about modern day human embalming. Students are being ramped up to begin their study of Egypt. AGC would like to thank Mr. Keiser for coming in to share his expertise on the embalming process. Mr. Haines science section joined the group too so they would be prepared when they study Egypt.

Curtin PTO Walkathon!

Get your pledges in so you can win the ipod! On Thursday, October 30th, students will be getting fit by walking for 60 minutes in order to raise funds for our PTO. We hope that you can support our students. All pledge forms are due on Wednesday, October 29th. Students can earn tiered prizes like a Curtin water bottle, Curtin Hoodie or a shot at the top prize...ipod!

Step Afrika!



Step Afrika! is coming to AGC on Monday, November 27. There will be a public performance at the Community Arts Theater on Wednesday night starting at 7PM. Cost is $2. This opportunity is brought to us from a grant awarded to WASD. We look forward to hosting this fine assembly for our students.

Mr. M is a Good Sport at Cochran!



Mr. Michaels over at Cochran was a great sport as he was duct taped to the flagpole due to the efforts of the students at Cochran. This was part of their "Walkathon" efforts. Keep getting those pledges at AGC and maybe we can tape up Mr. Zangara!

CORE Culmination


Our in school Robin Hood's demonstrated to students how to use a compound bow as a culmination to their "Archery " unit during CORE period.

7th Graders Visit Mural




Our 7th grade student went on a field trip to Downtown Williamsport to visit the mural being painted near Woodlands Bank. They met with mural creator, Michael Pilato, who gave them dome insight to his artistry. It was a "green" field trip, meaning our students walked to the mural. Nice work 7th grade team!

Great Week at AGC!




What a great week at AGC! We had The Power Team visit Curtin with a powerful message for our students about getting a great education, respect, and accomplishing goals. We topped off the week with our annual Family Fun Night. Great time had by all. Did you know that Mr. Plowman is trying out for the Power Team?

The Curtin Governors are off and running with a 2-1 record with victories over Berwick and Lyco Valley. You can see Coach Decker calling a play during the Berwick game - "20 pop pass" right coach? The Mighty Gov's break the huddle...stellar defense in all games thus far boys, keep up the great job! Get ready for the Pep Rally and Tailgate Party on Oct. 9th before the Roosevelt game.

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get these pics up on the blog. Student Council sponsored dance occured last Friday at AGC. I think every student from the school was there.
