Get your tickets for Beauty and the Beast, Jr. opening on March 13th at AGC auditorium. Mrs. Hickey and Mrs. Welty have been directing our chamber choir on this fun and enchanting musical. There will be a school performance on March 12th for our students. See Mrs. Wagner for tickets soon. It will definitely be a sellout performance.

Today, we are on a 1 hour assembly schedule to kickoff our student council magazine sale and to recognize our boys basketball players. There will also be a locker cleanout at the end of the day.

7th Grade AGC Geography Bee Winner

He is so huge that he can hold the world in the palm of his hand. This isn't true but he can tell you where Istanbul is located. Sam E. brought home the bacon in the 7th grade Geography Bee. Way to go Sam. Good luck at the regional competition. Here is a geography question for you...The Gambia is a located within which country?

Orchestra Students Jam!

Stacy
Alanna
Lauren
Katie
and Mr. Radspinner all look sharp!

Curtin Middle School currently has 5 string quartets in operation. As an 8th grade member you are expected to find a performing opportunity or “gig” for your group. Stacy Loveland found a gig for her group through her Church. Her group played 45 minutes of music for a fundraising dinner at the Trout Run Fire Hall. The kids did very well and represented us all in the manor that we would expect. I really appreciate Mr. Radspinner kicking out this information to be included on the blog.

AGC Dance

Check out some pics from the dance on Friday night!

Students Teach Algebra

Students in Mrs. Maffett's 8th grade algebra class are teaching mini-lessons to review for the upcoming PSSA's. I was in to observe a lesson. It was impressive to see the planning for implementation and the particpation by their classmates. Keep the high effort for the upcoming tests. Excellent work!

TEAMWORK!

The Governor Basketball Teams played hard fought game this evening against Roosevelt. Teamwork is what will get the job done when playing talented teams. We look forward to the upcoming Hall Tournament to be held next weekend for our 8th grade team. The Loyalsock Tourney is coming up for our 7th grade team. Good luck as we strive to close out our seasons on very positive performances. TEAMWORK will get the job done.

Weird Science

My friends Rayann and Ericka weren't baking cookies in Mr. Paulhamus's science class. Students are gearing up for the Curtin Science Fair to be held on March 4th in the gymnasium. Experiments range from testing air quality at AGC to plant growth related to sunlight. Pretty cool stuff. Looking forward to seeing all the great displays this year.

Library Make-over

I just want to thank Mr. Zapola for painting our library. He did a fantastic job! It actually makes our library look bigger and up to date. Great work on the picking of colors Mrs. Beattie, a huge improvement.
Just wanted to wish our 8th grade students the best of luck on their writing PSSA's which they started today.
Remember that there is a home basketball game on Thursday. Hope to see you there.

PSU Basketball

Yesterday I took my two sons and three of their friends to the PSU basketball game. The Lions played Wisconsin. I think that there was a lid on the basket because PSU could not hit a shot. It was a great time as we celebrated Cam's 9th birthday. He was feeling a bit under the weather the whole day but he hung in there. Notice that the Phillies World Series Trophy was on hand to see. Pretty cool. The fanatic was hilarious, he was in the student section getting everyone rallied up for the game. After the game we went to the Creamery for some Peachy Paterno. It was a great day even though PSU lost.

First Friday - February 6, 2009

Sorry about the delay in postings! I need to get caught up from the weekend. It was pretty busy. Friday night at Otto's the PTO donated $2,000 toward our library and the THINK BIG library campaign. Mr. Barrone was there to accept the check on the PTO's behalf. Mrs. Beattie was on hand to man the table set up in Otto's for this great cause. We appreciate Otto's collaboration on this project. Check out Mr. and Mrs. Cauley checking out the stacks to add books to our collection. There are many ways to donate. Check out the Curtin website under announcements to learn more. Remember THINK BIG!

CHAMPIONS!

What a game! The Cardinals just kept hanging around and made it a game until the very end. The catch by Santonio Holmes was amazing. Great game! The Steelers are the first team to reach 6 Super Bowl victories.
