Huge Steelers Fan?

The 2007 football season is right around the corner. Who is your favorite team? The Steelers are it for me. I enjoy many sports but watching football is the best. I like college and professional. Only one team really exists for me in the NFL. Mr. Zangara is a Miami Dolphins fan. The Dolphins actually signed a Steelers player from last year to a big contract, Joey Porter. I hope he does well for Mr. Zangara's Dolphins. Watch out at school the week the Steelers play the Dolphins, it could get ugly.

Bend It Like Beckham!

What do you think about David Beckham coming to the United States to play football (soccer) for the LA Galaxy? This reminds of Pele' coming from Brazil to play for the New York Cosmos of the NASL in the 70's. Do you think that he is the kind of impact player the MSL needs in order to boost soccer's popularity in the United States? Beckham is earning 250 million dollars for this endeavor, that may be enough to convince me to play in America.

Below is someone who is also worth 250 million in my book. Mr. Poole, the assistant principal at Jackson Elementary. He is from across the "pond" (England) and loves to play, watch, and officiate soccer. I have seen him on the pitch and he can "Bend It Like Beckham" too. However, Mr. Z can out drive him off the tee box in golf!

Batting Practice at Yankee Stadium

On Sunday, July 22nd, my two sons and I attended our first New York Yankee game in the Bronx. My oldest son, Connor, has become a Yankee fan due to his third grade teacher Mr. Cioffi. My younger son, Cameron and I, remain loyal to our favorite team, the Pittsburgh Pirates who are on the verge of their 15th consecutive losing season, Ouch!

The Yankees beat the Devil Rays 21-4. There were 7 homeruns in the game total. A-Rod, Shelley Duncan (2), Robinson Cano, Meekly Cabrera, and Jorge Posada all hit dingers. We are going out to see the Pirates play in two weeks.

We were able to see the progress of the new Yankee Stadium being built which is to open for the 2009 season. I am glad that we were able to make it to Yankee Stadium where so many legends have played like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Thurman Munson, and Roger Maris, just to name a few, have played.

Andrew G. Curtin Middle School

July 2, 2007 was my first day at Andrew G. Curtin Middle School. This is my 16th year in public education. I started my career in 1992 teaching fifth grade in Arlington County Public Schools, Arlington, VA. I taught one year in Arlington, then I taught six years in the Montoursville Area School District at Loyalsock Valley Elementary School. During my tenure at Loyalsock Valley I decided to attend Bucknell University to become a principal. My first principalship was in the Loyalsock Township School District at J. George Becht Elementary School (which is now closed). In 2002, I came back to my alma mater school district, WASD, where I was the principal at Round Hills Elementary School for the past five years.

I am looking forward to working with all of the students, parents, and staff at Andrew G. Curtin Middle School. Mr. Zangara has been educating me about our school. Check this out, I was a student at Curtin from 1980-1983! I was in the first sixth grade class here at Curtin.

I hope you learned a little more about me. Please feel free to post on the blog!

Welcome

Welcome to my "Blog." I learned about posting this from one of my colleagues from Loyalsock Twp. School District Middle School Principal, Mr. Fausnaught. He appears to be very proficient with this form of technology. It may take me a while to catch on and keep my blog current and up to date.
