Beatty's Band Rocks Out to Commence PSSA Week

Mr. Beatty and his band rocked the house last Friday for the end of PSSA week at Curtin. Check out the clip posted on Youtube to get a snapshot at the talent. We appreciate his band mates coming in to perform for the student body. I was digging the jams. The whistle with the megaphone was unique.

March Madness 5K - Curtin Represents!

Curtin was well represented at the March Madness 5K Run/Walk at the Balls Mills Soccer Complex on Saturday. Mr. Plowman, Mr. Paulhamus, Mr. Ross, Mr. Menges, and Mrs. McCann (missing from photo) were there to compete. It was a great day for a run. Check it out Mitchell Smith and Ben Hillman placed 1st and 2nd in their age division. Nice work guys. My daughter with the orange in her mouth placed second with my wife in the walk division. Mrs. Ross came in first with her son, Brady. All proceeds went the the Williamsport Area Swim Club and the Balls Mills Soccer Club.

Glory Days!

Congratulations to Mr. Forney who participated in a wrestling tournament last Friday. You can see his match on youtube or view it on my blog outside of school. It is blocked by the filtering system at school. I was impressed with the way he put his knee in the back of the guy's head while working the armbar.

Great Show!

A great performance by the chamber choir this past weekend of Beauty and the Beast. We have such a talented student body in our school. A huge "shout out" goes to the directors Mrs. Hickey and Mrs. Welty. On Saturday my entire family came to see the show. My daughter, Mallory, even wore her Belle dress for the performance. I just want to thank everyone who had anything to do with making this show a success. It was a great representation of our school. Awesome job!

Read 180 Field Trip

Mrs. Wolfanger's and Mrs. McCann's READ 180 course students went to Ling's family's Chinese restaurant a day last week. The students had a great time and enjoyed the food according to Mrs. W and Mrs. M. I was waiting for an order of General Tso's chicken but it never arrived. What is up with that?

A Couple of Catch-Up Postings

PSSA Testing started today at AGC. Our students completed a math and reading section. It was a long morning but we truly appreciate your very best effort on these assessments. Attendance is critical! Be sure to arrive at school on time. Remember...Do Your Best on the Test!

Curtin Staff Members Part of Urinetown at CTL

Mr. Radspinner, Mr. Henry, Mrs. Welty, and Mrs. Hickey worked collaboratively on the Community Theatre League production Urinetown. I had the chance to see the show last Thursday with my son Connor. It was a funny show with great music. The music was great because of our staff members from Curtin. Mr. Radspinner and Mr. Henry jammed in the pit. While Mrs. Welty and Mrs. Hickey had roles in the musical play.

Millionaires Roll!

Congrats to the Boys Swimming Team on their first ever undefeated season. The team also brought home our first district championship in swimming. Awesome job! Not the picture is of Curtin Alumnus, Duncan Frazier.

The Millionaires rolled to an easy victory over Cedar Cliff High School this past Saturday in the first round of the PIAA playoffs. The competition is sure to stiffen as they get further into their run for a state championship. Congratulations to the team as they prepare for their next game this Wednesday.

Science Fair Tomorrow!

AGC Science Fair is open tomorrow in the gym all day. Be sure to stop by the voting table to cast your ballot for the best 2009 Science Fair Project. I think my friends Maurice and Jakar may have learned something by observing and recording plant growth with regard to controlled variables. Remember that the Science Fair is open to the community from 6-8PM. I hear the PTO is serving snacks. See you there.

All District Band Concert at WAHS

I attended the WAHS All District Band Concert this evening. What a great exhibition of talent this event brings to the audience. It was a packed house. The Governor Band represented our school well with their fantastic playing on the stage. The Governor Brass did a transition jam to entertain. There were 450 musicians on the stage for the grand finale, God Bless America. Awesome job! The Millionaire Jazz Band is super. My favorite was Freebird at the end of the concert. Nothing like listening to a bit of Skynard to bring it on home.

Hoopsters at AGC!

Here are our Hoopsters from AGC. This past weekend, Sam Engel, earned all tournament team honors at the 7th grade Loyalsock Tournament. Taron Dinkins earned all tournament honors at the Kyrie Hall Tournament at Lycoming Valley. Congratulations to both of these athletes as they represented our school well this past weekend.

Curtin 8th Grade B-ball Team Places 2nd at Tourney

The 8th grade team made a fantastic effort toward winning the Kyrie Hall Tournament at Lycoming Valley this weekend. They defeated Shamokin and Lyco Valley on their way to the championship game where they came up short by 3 points against Roosevelt. Congratulations to both teams. It will be exciting watching players merge from all three middle school to the WAHS. The future looks bright for Millionaire Basketball!
Taron Dinkins was named to the All-Tourney team.
